Audiosphere

Based in Toronto, ON, Audiosphere Research produced a wide range of models under a variety of brand names (Audiosphere Research, Acoustic Profile, Profile, KLA Acoustics, Signet etc) all based on a small selection of driver components. Many woofers were built by Cambrige Loudspeakers, while most midranges and tweeters came from Asian vendors. Having so many nameplates allowed them to supply "house brand" hi-fi speakers to competing dealers without conflict. Overall, the speakers were well designed, but cheaply built.

Audiosphere Research products are often confused with 'white van speakers' but while they share the same philosophy, good looking cheap speakers, Audiosphere's were well designed and always sold at sensible prices.

Audiosphere models had multiple layers of "protection" built in, and ironically it is these protection devices that cause the most failures. Repairs to component are quite reasonable, so the speakers are worth keeping unless their inexpensive cabinetry is damaged. Since the enclosures were ‘cheap and cheerful’ grade, upgrading Audiosphere speakers with expensive components is not generally recommended.
